    U.S. Physical Therapy, Inc (symbol: USPh), a publicly-traded, national provider of health care services, is searching for an Associate General Counsel for its Corporate Headquarters in Houston, TX. With more than 580 outpatient physical therapy clinics throughout the United States, and growing, U.S Physical Therapy is a leader in the provision of rehabilitation services. 


    The candidate will join a Legal Department consisting of the General Counsel, a Deputy General Counsel and two Associate General Counsels (including the candidate) and two paralegals.  The Associate General Counsel reports directly to the General Counsel and is responsible for providing generalized legal and transactional support to the General Counsel, the Legal Department, and USPH affiliated entities. The position requires that the candidate be competent in various disciplines, including drafting and negotiating contracts, participating in other transactional work, legal research and other operations related legal services.  Prior experience on contracting and transactional matters is required; in-house experience and experience in the health care sector is a plus.

    Responsibilities include: 

    • Assisting the General Counsel, senior staff, and field staff in a variety of legal areas related to the operation of outpatient health care entities and partnerships, with a focus on transactional matters.
    • Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing various types of contracts, including employment agreements, partnership agreements, lease agreements, services agreements and purchase and sale agreements.
    • Assisting the General Counsel in acquisitions and other business development activities.
    • Serves as legal advisor to various committees, work groups and task forces as requested



    We are seeking a candidate with the following experience and qualifications:

    • Four year college degree
    • Juris doctorate degree
    • 4+ years’ experience as an Attorney with significant exposure to contracts and transactional work
    • Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to perform multiple tasks, and have a sense of urgency

    Must be a member in good standing of a state bar
